For an end to the genocide of the Palestinian people!
Genocide Gen·o·cide noun The total or partial destruction of an ethnic group, race or religion by cruel methods. (Aurélio Dictionary) By saying that “What is happening in the Gaza Strip and to the Palestinian people is like nothing else in history. In fact, it existed when Hitler decided to kill the Jews”, did Lula make a mistake? The Brazilian president’s intention was to equate the Palestinian genocide with the Jewish genocide, but although the massive and systematic murder of innocents is always an equally repulsive act, regardless of the number of people affected, the State of Israel is demonstrating that it is high time for us to overcome the Holocaust as the ultimate criterion of humanity’s monstrosity. There are many criteria that can also attest to the monstrosity of the conduct of states. One of them is historical responsibility. All those who experience a situation of injustice and cruelty, if they do not seek revenge, have a historical duty to fight to ensure that the suffering and barbarity they have endured is never repeated – with anyone, with any people, at any time. As we have seen, in the opinion of various organisations, world leaders, thinkers, among others – Jewish or not, in the face of all the efforts to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive so that it is never repeated, it is inconceivable that the State of Israel should still perpetuate the massacre in Palestine, a veritable open-air concentration camp. In addition, there are many elements in the genocide committed by the State of Israel that must be taken into account so that we don’t allow ourselves to be so buried by the monstrosity of the Holocaust that we lose sight of the monstrosity committed against the Palestinians today. We know that the war against the Palestinian people is based on a great deal of confusion aimed at making anti-Semitism the right of defence of the Jewish people. This right of defence announced by the State of Israel has been used, however, as a seal for the formation, for decades, of a terrorist, murderous and genocidal state. Let us look at the elements: Firstly, while the Third Reich in Germany lasted for 12 years, Palestinian apartheid has been going on for more than seven decades. Secondly, the atrocities committed in the Nazi concentration camps were condemned and repressed through a world war that did not allow the Holocaust to be naturalised and made it possible for the Jews to be liberated and obtain their state. The Palestinian genocide, on the other hand, has been distorted and naturalised by the spokespeople of global Zionism for decades, keeping the Palestinians massacred for all these years and with no hope of liberation in sight. Thirdly, the repulsive anti-Semitism is directed against a nation of people who today have the protection and adopt as their culture and home a plurality of states spread around the world. Hatred of the Palestinian people seeks to eliminate a fragile and vulnerable nation made up of just over five million people confined (imprisoned) in a narrow strip of land that has not even been guaranteed its right to form a state of its own. There is another element – perhaps the most important one – which makes it inappropriate to say that the Palestinian genocide is equivalent to the Holocaust. The Jewish tragedy was an unprecedented event in human history. Just like the murderous atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, until the Holocaust it was impossible for the imagination to conceive that human beings would be capable of such atrocities. However, once they happened for the first time, the reiteration of such events can no longer be considered mere repetition. Those who carry out an unimaginable atrocity for the second time are not drawing on a wild cruel imagination. Instead, they are simply rationally and deliberately reproducing what the Western culture of which they are a part has established as immoral, repugnant and unacceptable. When it comes to the terrorist, murderous and genocidal state of Israel, the Holocaust can no longer be used as the ultimate criterion of humanity’s monstrosity or as a way of shielding itself from criticism. We can no longer tolerate that all those who rebel against the State of Israel be threatened with the label of “anti-Semites”. The Jewish nation is not to be confused with the terrorist, murderous and genocidal state of Israel. To say that the terrorist, murderous and genocidal state of Israel has lost the legitimacy of using the Holocaust as a rhetorical device to shield its war crimes in no way detracts from the Jewish nation’s just struggle to preserve the vigilant memory of a past that must never be repeated against anyone, any people, at any time. Perhaps it’s time to think about how today the terrorist, murderous and genocidal state of Israel and its Western allies are fuelling antisemitism in the world, given that their actions over the last seven decades are largely responsible for the bloodshed of innocent Jews and for shaming the memory of all those who were exterminated in the Hitler genocide. Friends of the Earth Brazil therefore expresses its support for President Lula’s statement and rejects any kind of retraction on the part of the Brazilian government towards the war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of the terrorist, murderous and genocidal state of Israel. ¡Por el fin del genocidio del pueblo palestino!
Genocidio Ge·no·ci·dio m. Destrucción total o parcial de una etnia, raza o religión mediante métodos crueles. (Diccionario Aurélio) Cuando dijo que “Lo que está ocurriendo en la Franja de Gaza y al pueblo palestino no se parece a nada en la historia. De hecho, ya existía cuando Hitler decidió matar a los judíos”, ¿se equivocó Lula? La intención del presidente brasileño era equiparar el genocidio palestino al genocidio judío, pero, aunque el asesinato masivo y sistemático de inocentes es siempre un acto igualmente repulsivo, independientemente del número de personas afectadas, el Estado de Israel está demostrando que ya es hora de que superemos el Holocausto como criterio máximo de monstruosidad de la humanidad. Hay muchos criterios que también pueden dar fe de la monstruosidad del comportamiento estatal. Uno de ellos es la responsabilidad histórica. Todos los que experimentan una situación de injusticia y crueldad, si no buscan venganza, tienen el deber histórico de luchar para que el sufrimiento y la barbarie que han padecido no se repitan jamás, con nadie, con ningún pueblo, en ningún momento. Como hemos visto, en la opinión de diversas organizaciones, líderes mundiales, pensadores y otros -judíos o no-, frente a todos los esfuerzos por mantener viva la memoria del Holocausto para que nunca se repita, es inconcebible que el Estado de Israel siga perpetuando la masacre en Palestina, un verdadero campo de concentración al aire libre. Además, hay muchos elementos en el genocidio cometido por el Estado de Israel que deben tenerse en cuenta para que no nos dejemos sepultar tanto por la monstruosidad del Holocausto que perdamos de vista la monstruosidad cometida hoy contra los palestinos. Sabemos que la guerra contra el pueblo palestino se basa en una gran confusión destinada a hacer del antisemitismo el derecho de defensa del pueblo judío. Este derecho de defensa anunciado por el Estado de Israel ha sido utilizado, sin embargo, como sello para la formación, durante décadas, de un Estado terrorista, asesino y genocida. Veamos los elementos: En primer lugar, mientras que el Tercer Reich en Alemania duró 12 años, el apartheid palestino se prolonga desde hace más de siete décadas. En segundo lugar, las atrocidades cometidas en los campos de concentración nazis fueron condenadas y reprimidas mediante una guerra mundial que no permitió naturalizar el Holocausto e hizo posible que los judíos fueran liberados y obtuvieran su Estado; mientras que el genocidio palestino ha sido distorsionado y naturalizado por los voceros del sionismo global durante décadas, manteniendo a los palestinos masacrados durante todos estos años y sin esperanza de liberación a la vista. En tercer lugar, el repulsivo antisemitismo se dirige contra una nación de personas que hoy tienen la protección y adoptan como cultura y hogar una pluralidad de Estados dispersos por el mundo; el odio al pueblo palestino, en cambio, busca eliminar a una frágil y vulnerable nación formada por poco más de cinco millones de personas confinadas (encarceladas) en una estrecha franja de tierra que ni siquiera tiene garantizado su derecho a constituir un Estado propio. Hay otro elemento -quizás el más importante- que hace inadecuado decir que el genocidio palestino es equivalente al Holocausto. La tragedia judía fue un acontecimiento sin precedentes en la historia de la humanidad. Al igual que las bombas atómicas asesinas lanzadas sobre Hiroshima y Nagasaki en Japón, hasta el Holocausto era imposible para la imaginación concebir que los seres humanos fueran capaces de tales atrocidades. Sin embargo, una vez que han ocurrido por primera vez, la reiteración de tales acontecimientos ya no puede considerarse mera repetición. Quienes llevan a cabo una atrocidad inimaginable por segunda vez no están recurriendo a una imaginación salvaje y cruel. Por el contrario, simplemente están reproduciendo de forma racional y deliberada lo que la cultura occidental de la que forman parte ha establecido moralmente como inmoral, repugnante e inaceptable. Cuando se trata del Estado terrorista, asesino y genocida de Israel, ya no se puede utilizar el Holocausto como criterio último de la monstruosidad de la humanidad ni como forma de escudarse contra las críticas. No podemos seguir tolerando que se tilde de “antisemitas” a todos los que se rebelan contra el Estado de Israel. No hay que confundir la nación judía con el Estado terrorista, asesino y genocida de Israel. Decir que el Estado terrorista, asesino y genocida de Israel ha perdido la legitimidad de utilizar el Holocausto como recurso retórico para escudar sus crímenes de guerra no desvirtúa en absoluto la justa lucha de la nación judía por preservar la memoria vigilante de un pasado que nunca debe repetirse contra nadie, ningún pueblo, en ningún momento. Tal vez sea hora de reflexionar sobre cómo hoy el Estado terrorista, asesino y genocida de Israel y sus aliados occidentales están alimentando el antisemitismo en el mundo, dado que sus acciones durante las últimas siete décadas son en gran medida responsables del derramamiento de sangre de judíos inocentes, y de avergonzar la memoria de todos aquellos que fueron exterminados en el genocidio hitleriano. Por lo tanto, Amigas de la Tierra Brasil expresa su apoyo a la declaración del presidente Lula y rechaza cualquier tipo de retractación por parte del gobierno brasileño hacia el criminal de guerra Benjamin Netanyahu, primer ministro del estado terrorista, asesino y genocida de Israel.
